Cronometer is more in-depth and is more suited for those dedicated to their health and fitness while MFP is more suited to the average joe who doesn't mind just tracking the main needs. I've also found Cronometer to be more precise and my cut has gone significantly faster with it as opposed to MFP, which may be due to many reasons beyond app usage.Įither way, pick the one you'll use most. Cronometer only uses professionally sourced data and while they may not have the food you want to add, you can do custom foods which bridges the gap in my opinion. You may find MFP has a much larger database but it's also crowdsourced and you should be weary of bad or invalid (for a number of reasons) data. I'm a data oriented person so the micronutrient breakdown vibes with me heavily and I find myself adding way more veggies and fruits to my diet while MFP just had me focused on achieving my macros so I find I'm eating so much healthier with Chronometer. I used MFP for about a year or so and after a week of trying Chronometer, I bought a year's subscription and haven't looked back. They both do the same job and both have pros and cons. The app you're more likely to use is the app you should use. If you’re a lifter that’s looking for a jump from MyFitnessPal or you’re looking to take your macros more seriously, I HIGHLY recommend Cronometer. Other than the grouping thing I definitely prefer Chronometer and used MFP for almost 2 years. Overall, the app works really well and does a phenomenal job of tracking food incredibly specifically and highlighting nutritional weaknesses in your diet. Also added a recipe and custom food from a local restaurant. I could do so in MFP but it does have limited Micro-nutrient information compared to Chronometer.Īll in all I'd say it's probably the better option overall but I'd give both a try since MFP does have more obscure food estimates even if they aren't exact like for King Taco or something.Įdit: I scanned the Stater Bros stuff and it does show up. I really like I can add my supplements like my Multi-Vitamin. I couldn't find my super market brand frozen veggies I used (Stater Bros Frozen Chopped Spinach or Stater Bros Frozen Brussels Sprouts) but I'll try scanning the bag when I get home.

It doesn't group my foods by meal at least as the free version. Cronometer, Automatic Condition Unworn Year 2003 Watch with original box Location: Italy. No problem, I'll give it a chance to sync and worry about it later because it should work.Ĭhronometer has a paywall on probably the only feature that may be a deal breaker for me. Listing: 2935 Omega De Ville Co-Axial Escapement Aut. Right now activity and weight etc is going into Chronometer but my calories aren't showing in Fitbit. I have a Fitbit and like that I can sync data from MFP. So I've downloaded Chronometer and have some first impressions. So I'm falling in the camp of I didn't explore other options.
